Newsletter time...lovely right? Ok, I'll be brief. Sign up for Race #2 8k or 15k. We will take care of you before , during and after the race.

All of the beer boys and girls will be there this time, Alamo Beer , Blue Star Brewing , Ranger Creek Brewing and Distillery, and Freetail Brewing Company .

Valero Volunteers will be on hand, but they have a conflict so there will not be as many as last time. So we are looking for volunteers and bike course marshals.

Race number #2, is August 13th Saturday evening (full moon) at 730 at McAllister Park on paved trails and the road.

Packet pick up will be at Soler Sports at Stoneoak from 12-4.

Then it will close and move to McAllister Park and reopen at Pavlion #2 from 5-7. Read further down in this email for all of the particulars.

I Ching Gatos will be rolling out some tunes.

This series is shaping up to be a good addition to the races that you have to choose from that lead you to the San Antonio Rock and Roll Marathon and Half Marathon. If there is something that you would like to have added to the series or you have an idea for a new race let us know we will make it happen. We like anything that will enhance your running experience.

It's important that you think of your safety at this event. If you are not having a great day, then slow down and walk to the finish. It's early in the season so do not do anything to jeopardize your health.

Just before each event we will give you the details about where to get your packet and race information.

Awards will be given out as stated and we will have some specials that will be ongoing with these awards, these are awards you can use.

Beer (growlers) jugs, that you will get a special price for filling these up on special days at unique locations. It's the award that keeps on giving. Friend Scallywompus Event because that is where we will keep updating where and when to get discounts at special places.

Don't forget that volunteers are there to help you, so show your appreciation for them taking care of your needs.

Valero will have a team of volunteers at each area helping you have a great race.

American Cancer Society Determination group, lead by Edgar Gonzalez will be in charge of the course and he will be directing volunteers on how best to help the runners. To make sure that we have an accurate race we have IAAP. They help organize over 100 running events each year. They are number one in San Antonio for timing and organization.

Soler Sports will be on hand to give you some special packet pick up discounts and to make sure that you have everything you need for a hot race before you leave their store. This is key, come to Soler Sports to get your packet or sign up and get 20% off most items in the store.

There is a new Sherriff in town and his name is Charlie Monroe. He is the owner of Guard Craft and he is here to help other small and large business's that need help developing training programs, lesson plans, and briefings and presentations.

Alamo Beer Challenge - Home Brewed, Home Grown, HomeRUN!

There's a new race series in town! The Alamo Beer Challenge will get you race
ready for the upcoming Rock'n'Roll San Antonio Marathon and 1/2 Marathon.

There's no reason why training for the RNR SA shouldn't be fun! The Alamo Beer Challenge will have bands, food, and Alamo Beer at each race event. In addition,
these races will introduce you to some unique, wonderful places to run in
San Antonio.

About the Challenge:

Our goal with the Alamo Beer Challenge is to get you to the finish line of the RNR SA Marathon or 1/2 Marathon. But we want you to have fun getting there! We will have bands, food and beer at each race.
We will introduce you to some of the great places in San Antonio to get a locally brewed beer. And we will introduce
you to some new places to run. So after the run, you will enjoy knowing that you are getting closer to your goal of
a great half marathon or full marathon.

This is a very fast 5k and 10k. There will be one aid station for the
5k and 3 aid stations for the 10k runners.

Parking is at the Drury Hotel, and surrounding area.
Also you can park in the Via Park and ride under 1604 and IH10.

Packet pick up will be at Soler Sports at 1604 and Stone Oak Parkway from 12 -4.

Then we will move packet pick up to the Drury from 6pm to 7pm.
The race will start at 730pm.

The awards will be at the Drury, as will be the band I Ching Gatos.
Food will be provided by Highlander Bar, and beer will be provided by Alamo Beer. There will be plenty of things to do while you wait for your awards.
